Why I do what I do
When I was twenty-six, my uncle Richard passed away unexpectedly. He was fifty-two, a carpenter who built beautiful things with his hands, a man who coached Little League and helped his neighbors with their fences without being asked. He was kind, reliable, and loved by everyone who knew him.
He also didn’t have a will.
What followed was one of the hardest years our family has ever been through. Not because of grief — though there was plenty of that — but because of the legal mess that followed. His modest home, his tools, his savings — all of it ended up in probate court. Family members who had always been close began to argue. Relationships were damaged that, honestly, never fully healed.
That experience changed me. I couldn’t stop thinking: if Uncle Richard had just spent a few hours putting a simple plan in place, none of that would have happened. His wishes would have been honored. His family would have been spared all that pain.
That’s when I decided to dedicate my career to helping families avoid what mine went through. I became a licensed estate planner, and for the last fifteen years, I’ve been helping families just like yours create simple, affordable plans that protect the people they love.
